Game Recap

After a devastating loss on Monday night to Rossville, the Frontier Falcons felt themselves back up to a wall for the regular season conference title. A loss would mean a 3 way tie between Carroll, Rossville, and Frontier. A win would allow the Falcons a shot at the outright Conference title pending the 5-5 marathon game with Carroll that will now need to be finished due to the loss on Monday to Rossville.

Playing with a purpose is something that most coaches preach to their players. When a game means more than just a win or a loss it seems to gain more value and requires more effort. Tonight was just that, Frontier held its Annual Military Appreciation game tonight where the celebrated the lives of those that gave up theirs to serve our country. The sacrifices that our military give is worth more than just a game that is played between 2 high schools, but it is a way for the coaches, players, fans, and parents to say that we thank you for those sacrifices that you made to fight for our freedom. The time spent away from your families so that we can have the opportunities to succeed, to have freedoms that most countries do not have. So, from a team that cares, THANK YOU!!!

How fitting it is to have Military Appreciation night and to have two Seniors decide to serve their country. AJ Hall will join the US Army while Blake Hylton will join the US National Guard this summer. On a night like tonight, the coaches would not have it any other way than to have both Seniors on the field with AJ on the mound. AJ stood tall on the bump for the Falcons for 7 complete innings to earn the W tonight. With an 11 strike out effort and only allowing 3 hits with 4 walks, the performance was just shy of dominant. AJ’s complete game gives him 3 wins on the season. Hall also added 2 hits, 1 double, and an RBI to help in his win against Rossville. Senior Zach Loy and Freshman Tanner Dold both added a multi hit game with Loy smashing a Triple to the left center gap and Dold adding a double in the left center gap. Dold and Senior Cole Fesler would tally 2 RBI’s for the Falcons with one of Feslers RBI’s coming on a perfectly executed squeeze play early in the game. Defensively the Falcons were flawless with the US National Guard bound Hylton making 2 very good catches in right field to save runs and keep the lead intact all game.

Frontier moves there record to 9-3-1 on the season and will travel to North White on Friday to battle it out with the Vikings for their second meeting of the season. The game is scheduled for a 5pm start so come out a support the Falcons.
