Game Recap

Friday the Frontier Falcons traveled to North White for round 2 of the White County Rivalry game. Both teams came into the contest ranked in the top ten of the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA) polls. North White had a ranking of #7 while Frontier was ranked #5. Both teams came into the game with a 9-3 record making this a highly watched game in the social media world.

The Falcons would choose to throw Senior starting pitcher Cole Fesler in the second game of the rivalry. Cole would go 6 complete innings scattering 8 hits, striking out 1 North White batter and giving up 7 runs (1 earned run). Fesler battled on the mound all game long, with a shaky defense behind him he still managed to keep his pitch count below 100 pitches in 6 innings. Coles performance would earn him the win after an exciting top half of the 7th. The first 2 batters of the inning would be retired by the relief pitcher Gatlin Phelps before he surrendered his first baserunner of the inning to Freshman Jack Mikesell who would hit a groundball in between the 3rd baseman and SS Luke Diener. Diener would miss handle the groundball giving Mikesell 1st base. Jarrett Burroughs would follow up Dieners error by doing what he does best, getting hit with the baseball. This put runners on 1st and 2nd with two out in the top of the 7th. Zach Loy would step to the plate with the winning run in scoring position and the score knotted up at 6 a piece. Loy would watch the first pitch of the at-bat go by for a strike and then watch 3 more go by for balls. This would put the count at 3 balls and 1 strike. The next pitch Phelps wishes he could have back because Loy would launch it over the left field fence landing in a puddle of water making a splash as big as an underwater bomb. Loy picked the perfect time to hit the Falcons first Home Run of the season. The score would now be set at 9-6 good guys going into the bottom of the 7th inning. After Diener would reach on an error a Hendress single, Cole would give way to teammate AJ Hall to attempt to earn the save for the Falcons. AJ would immediately come in and strike out the first batter he faced and get his second batter to ground into a fielders choice scoring Diener, making the score 9-7. Two more singles with 2 outs would load the bases full of Vikings. With the winning run on first base Hall would strike out Cameron Ruemler to end the game and earn the save. Loy would lead the Falcon offense with his only hit being a Home Run, but driving in 5 of the 9 runs. Zeb Davis and Tyler Prior would each go 2-4 with 2 singles.

The win against North White gives the Falcons a 10-3 record on the season.
