The No. 6 Frontier Falcons opened up their 2016 Sectional tournament with Clinton Prairie Wednesday. The Falcons would send senior Cole Fesler to the mound to get the job done in game 1. Cole would not waste any time with the C.P. batters throwing over 70% strikes and only throwing 77 pitches in 7 innings. Cole would strike out 7 batter walking 0 and allowing only 1 earned run. His performance would keep the Falcons close until the Frontier bats would start to get to Clinton Prairie pitcher Jared Stillwell. Stillwell would hold the bats at bay until the 5th inning. Down 2-0, Zeb Davis would lead off the inning with a single up the middle bringing up Zach Loy. Loy would need only 1 pitch in his second at bat to launch rocket over the left field fence for a 2 run home run to tie the score going into the top of the 6th. Fesler would throw a shut down inning keeping the momentum on the Falcons side. In the bottom of the 6th the Falcon bats would explode. Senior leadoff hitter Jarrett Burroughs would lead off the bottom of the inning with a double and no.2 hitter Tanner Dold would walking leaving 2 on for 3rd baseman AJ Hall. Coach Neal would give the bunt call to Hall on the first pitch. AJ would have a failed attempt at the bunt on the first pitch. AJ would get the green light on the second pitch and send it over the right center field fence for a huge go ahead 3 run home run. The inning would not end there. Zeb Davis would record his second hit of the game with a double and Loy would single behind him. Tyler Prior would walk loading the bases for Sam Kriebel. Kriebel would hit a laser beam in the left center field gap for the second bases clearing triple in 2 days. Loy and Davis would both tally 2 hits for the Falcons while Hall and Kriebel would lead the team in RBI’s on the night with 3 a piece.
Frontier will go head to head with Pioneer Friday at 5 pm in the Section Semi-Final game @ Falcon Field.
