The Falcons suffered their third loss of the season Friday night the West Lafayette Red Devils. West Lafayette came ready to play by putting up 7 runs in the first two innings, putting the Falcons in a big hole to dig out of. After being held hitless through 5 innings the Falcons put out a late charge in the 6th. Sophomore Jack Mikesell would lead off the inning by beating out a ground ball to the shortstop. Mikesell then advances to second on a ground ball to the third baseman leaving Frontier with a runner on second and 1 out. Junior Zach Oaks hits a hard ground ball between the short stop and the third baseman while Mikesell was stealing third. Mikesell would round third and score the Falcons first run of the game. Sophomore Tanner Dold came to the plate with 2 outs and a runner on first and would lace a triple to the right center fence to bring around Hunter Hayslip who reached on an error the at bat previous making it an 11-2 ballgame. The final run of the game for the Falcons would come off the bat of Catcher Conner Hayslip who singled down the left field line scoring Dold and making the game 11-3. Offensively the Falcons were led by that inning. Dold would go 1-3 with a Triple and an RBI and C. Hayslip and Oaks would finish the game with 1 hit a piece and an RBI.
Frontier opens Hoosier Heartland Conference play with Double Header at Carroll today (4/8) starting at 11am.
